In a city where clubs come and go like White House Interns, the Rolling Stone is an institution (a fitting venue for most of the people who frequent the place.) The Stone has stood in exactly the same spot in Shinjuku 3-chome for 25 years.

It is a tiny bar playing an interesting mixture of hard rock, classic rock (which the owner believes to be the latest tunes, ssshhh. . .) and at times, some pretty cool digital rock through massive speakers at ear-splitting volume. It's a great place to dance, get slammed into and meet people whom you won't be able to talk to because the music's too damn loud.

The Stone has been accused of being rather violent at times, but I think it's just a bit too high energy for some. However, the DJ booth is encased in a framework of metal bars, and you can take that for what it's worth.

Personally, I like the place and it has carried the Raydude seal of approval for a long time. On Friday and Saturday, there are always people ready to party, and it's a lot of fun if you don't take it too seriously.

On the weekends, there is a cover charge of 2000 yen which includes 2 drinks. While this price is totally reasonable for most clubs, many consider it heresy for the Stone to charge a cover. But hey, what can you do?

This map should be able to get you to both Fedora and the Rolling Stone.
